Nothing More Than This EP LYRICS

So my friend Tom asked me for the lyrics to my songs, and instead of just sending them to him, I thought it might be better to put them on a public space so more people will benefit.

I personally HOPE that my singing is clear enough that you wouldn't need lyrics to figure out the words, but I guess for those not keen on memorising the words to my songs, having them available to read and sing along to is the next best thing.

So without further adieu, here are the lyrics for all the songs on the EP.
If you are yet to buy the EP, you can do so here: https://itunes.apple.com/nz/album/nothing-more-than-this-ep/id633303123

CALIFORNIA
Written by Martinette Williams 2011 ©

It was summer when we first met
You have a smile that I will never forget
Woke up every morning
Just so I could see you again

I didn't know it but I started to find
You were the only thing on my mind
And I dreaded the thought of the night that you would say goodbye

I know you had no choice but to leave
I just hope you'll remember me

I wished this would last forever
Now you're on your way back to
California
You took away a piece of me
I'm praying one day you will see
California
Is not where you wanna be
It's not where you wanna be
California
Is worlds away from me

I tried my hardest just to keep it inside
But if you had asked for the truth
I wouldn't have lied
I'm not hiding how I feel
I just didn't wanna fall apart

I didn't know you for very long
But it's not the same here now that you're gone

Time goes on
And it feels wrong
When you're not here
Don't forget
The way you felt
All the days that you were

MAYBE

Written by Martinette Williams 2012 ©

It’s different somehow
To everything else that I have known until now
Something just seems to make sense when you’re looking at me

It’s plaguing my mind
I sit here and think about it all of the time
Wondering why you just don’t seem to think about me

I’m really  trying not to let you see
How I always wear my heart out on my sleeve

Maybe this is where you wanna be
Maybe I’m dreaming and this isn’t what it seems
Maybe I was wrong
Maybe I’m sure
That maybe you’re what I’ve been looking for

Some things never change
I’m trying to trust you but I can’t explain
I’m fighting my impulse to leave this and just run away

And I’m still trying not to let you see
How I always wear my heart out on my sleeve

STARS

Written by Martinette Williams 2012 ©

I know what this is
I won’t pretend that I am oblivious
And I won’t clench my fist
And we’ll forget the time I took a shot and missed

I know you’ll insist
But I’m aware that there is nothing more than this
When I’m alone you might be the one I miss
But I’m convinced
This is all there is

It doesn’t mean anything to me
You can hold my hand, tell me how you feel
It doesn’t mean anything to you
It’s just another night the stars will shine for you

And you can do the things you do
Thought I’d never be the one to stop you
So many things I thought I knew
I guess there’s no point understanding you

PLAYING WITH FIRE

Written by Martinette Williams 2012 ©

I know what you’d say
As you leave me out in the cold
I’ve heard it all
Hundreds of times before
I’m not gonna be the girl
You leave crying there on the floor
It’s not a game
You don’t make the rules anymore

We both know
This is wrong

Playing with fire
One day we’re both gonna get burned
When it’s all over
Forget the things we should have learned
Trying to just move forward
Made all these choices before
We’re playing with fire
And it doesn’t feel right anymore

I know what they’d say
They don’t understand what we are
I’ve heard it all
They think that you’re breaking my heart
I’m not gonna be the girl
You leave all alone in the dark
It’s not a game
But you’ve been playing me from the start

We both know
This can’t go on

Aaaaaaand for all you die-hard curry fans, here are the Guitar Baby chords:

GUITAR BABY
Written by Martinette Williams and Alisa Clapham 2008 ©

Its a cold night
A winter night
A curry night
Wednesday curry night

Curry delight
Curry night

A great night for my...

Guitar Baby
You drive me crazy
*mumbling*
Guitar Baby

Am I gonna have salad tonight???
Salad can make everything alright!
Mmmm salad
Mmm mmm mmummmum salad
Curry curry curry curry curry curry SALAD!
