There once was a Panda,
She enjoyed playing music.
When she played, she was very loud and sometimes sounded tinny.
She wasn't the best Bass-player around. She was getting old now, for a Bass-player anyway. But she loved it, and she tried her best.
One day, she was asked to play at The Regent!!!
This was a big deal!
The Regent was the most glorious building in all of Dunedin, it sat at least a few thousand people. That's what she was told anyway.
It had always been her dream to play there.
It was a dream she didn't even know she had!
She would never have thought she would get to play there.
So Panda skipped off to the Regent Sound Check, very excited at this special opportunity.
Setting up her Bass, Panda felt very important. She was on a massive stage in front of a huge amount of seats.
Panda felt a little nervous being up there. Everything was very loud.
She noticed that the Bass Amp was making a weird buzzing sound. She thought it sounded like a frog, or a little like a bird.
The Amp was not supposed to be making this noise.
The band kept Sound Checking, but soon all the people on stage noticed the buzzing.
It was not OK.
The Sound Tech came to the stage to investigate.
It wasn't the Amp.
It wasn't the lead.
It was Panda's Bass.
The Sound Tech and the Band Leader talked about bringing another Bass in
(In this world, a Bass Player could only play their own Bass).
Panda would not be able to play The Regent anymore.
Not with this buzzing!!!
The band kept sound checking.
Even though she knew she would not get to play the Regent anymore, Panda tried her best to enjoy the time she had left on the stage.
It was all over for Panda.
After the band had finished their set, Panda listened to the annoying buzzing sound coming out of the Amp.
Why did it have to buzz???
She had earlier heard one of the sound guys talk about turning the knobs on the bass to try and get rid of the buzzing.
They had tried it, and it had not worked.
Panda thought she might try it as well, just to be safe.
She turned and turned the first knob.
Buzz buzz!
She turned and turned the second knob.
Buzz buzz buzz!
She turned and turned the third and last knob.
Buuuuuzzzzzzz
The buzzing stopped!!!!!!
Panda could hardly believe it!
She told the Band Leader that she got the buzzing to stop.
The Band Leader asked the Sound Tech if Panda and her Bass could stay, and he said: YES!
Panda would play the Regent after all.
The band made awesome music,
Everyone had a great time,
But most importantly, Panda got to live her dream to play the Regent.
Never give up on your dreams.
And Never Say Never as well.
(yes I stole that from Justin Bieber).
